Islamic Funeral Arrangements & Burial

Arrangements & Burial

We provide full coordination from the time of passing through burial, ensuring all arrangements are handled properly and in accordance with Islamic requirements.

Funeral service and burial are typically arranged within 24–72 hours, or at the family's request. We provide 24/7 availability for immediate assistance, ensuring that families receive support whenever they need it during this difficult time.

We provide comprehensive transportation services for the deceased from any location, including Maryland and out-of-state locations, hospitals, hospice facilities, nursing homes, medical examiner's offices, and private residences. Refrigeration storage is provided when necessary to ensure proper care. Our hearse transportation services extend to the family's chosen mosque, whether in-state or out-of-state, and to the family's chosen cemetery, ensuring a seamless and respectful journey throughout the process.

We coordinate directly with mosque clergy to arrange Salat al-Janazah, the funeral prayer, ensuring that all Islamic requirements are met and that the service is conducted with proper respect and adherence to religious traditions.

Our team provides dedicated assistance at the graveside during burial, supporting the family and ensuring that all aspects of the burial process are handled with care, dignity, and in accordance with Islamic practices.

We handle the filing of the death certificate and provide certified copies to the family, managing all necessary paperwork to ensure that legal requirements are met while allowing families to focus on their grief and remembrance.

We provide domestic and international transportation of remains, handling all necessary documentation, permits, and coordination required for transporting the deceased across state lines or internationally. Our experienced team ensures compliance with all regulations and customs requirements, making the process as smooth as possible for families during this difficult time.

We offer specialized fetal and infant funeral services, providing compassionate care and support for families experiencing the loss of a child. Our services are tailored to meet the unique needs of these situations, ensuring that even the smallest members of our community are honored with dignity and respect according to Islamic traditions.

Washing & Shrouding

The ritual washing and shrouding, Ghusl & Kafan, are performed in accordance with Islamic protocol, led by trained Muslim staff.

Men are washed by men, and women are washed by women. Ghusl is performed by experienced Muslim brothers and sisters, ensuring that all procedures follow Islamic requirements with respect and dignity.

Family members and friends are welcome to participate under guidance. Protective garments and supplies are provided for all participants to ensure proper hygiene and respect during the washing process.

The body is washed an odd number of times, beginning from the right side, following traditional Islamic practices. Each step is performed with care and reverence.

The deceased is shrouded in white cloth (kafan), provided by the funeral home. This traditional covering ensures the body is prepared according to Islamic customs.

Placement in a wooden casket for visitation and transportation is available. Families have the option for burial with or without a casket. Additional charges apply for casket burial, if selected.

Mosque & Prayer Guidance

Mosque & Prayer Guidance

We help families and attendees understand mosque etiquette and prayer customs to ensure proper observance.

Modest dress is expected for mosque attendance. Men should avoid sleeveless clothing, and women should wear loose garments and cover arms, legs, and hair to show respect in the sacred space.

We provide explanation of Salat al-Janazah and where it takes place (Musalla). The Imam leads the prayer, and participation is limited to Muslim men and women. Shoe removal is required before entering prayer areas.

No photography or recording is permitted during prayer or burial. We guide families on graveside customs, including prayer and respectful conduct, to ensure proper observance throughout the service.

We explain attendance expectations and typical service duration, which is approximately 5–30 minutes, helping families and attendees prepare appropriately for the ceremony.

We provide installation of concrete burial vaults at the cemetery, ensuring that the final resting place is properly prepared and protected. Our team coordinates with cemetery staff to ensure that vault installation is completed according to specifications and in a timely manner, providing families with peace of mind during the burial process.

Prepare a Loved One

Initial Preparation for Ghusl

Initial Preparation

The body is positioned with the head facing the Qibla (Mecca). The person performing Ghusl begins by making intention (niyyah) and reciting Bismillah. The body is covered with a sheet to maintain modesty throughout the process, with only the area being washed exposed at a time.

Ritual Washing - Ghusl

Ritual Washing (Ghusl)

The body is washed an odd number of times (typically three or five), beginning from the right side. Water mixed with camphor or other permissible substances is used. The washing follows a specific order: first the head and face, then the right side, then the left side, ensuring all parts are thoroughly cleansed with respect and dignity.

Shrouding - Kafan

Shrouding (Kafan)

After Ghusl, the body is dried and wrapped in white cloth (kafan). For men, typically three pieces are used: a loincloth, a shirt, and a full-body wrap. For women, five pieces are used, including a head covering. The kafan is tied at the head and feet, and may be perfumed with incense. The body is then ready for Salat al-Janazah.
